The Best Remanufactured Ford 5.4L 2 Valve Engine You Could Ever Get
Are you looking for a replacement Ford 5.4L 2 valve engine? If so, you may be overwhelmed with all the options out there. It can be hard to tell a high quality remanufactured engine apart from a poor quality unit. You may be thinking about buying a brand new stock replacement engine instead of a remanufactured one, just to play it safe.
It’s actually much safer to buy a remanufactured Powertrain Products 5.4L 2 valve Ford engine instead of a stock engine. Alaina explains why in this video:
We took the time to recap the info from the video below:
What Do Our 5.4L 2 Valve Engines Include?
Our remanufactured Ford 5.4L 2 valve engines are like most long blocks, but more “beefed up”. All our 5.4L 2 valve engines include:
- Long block
- Heads
- Timing components
- Oil pump
- Gaskets
- Front cover
- Oil pan
Our 5.4L 2 Valve Engines Don’t Have Any Of The Known Factory Issues
Powertrain Products is a leading brand for remanufactured engines. A big reason for that is the fact that we remedy all known factory faults while remanufacturing our engines. That applies to the Ford 5.4L 2 valve engine, as well.
This engine is infamous for several issues. We’ll discuss each one and how we fix it during the remanufacturing process:
1. Timing Chain Slap And Failure
For some reason, Ford designed its 5.4L 2 valve engines to give the timing chain some slack. Maybe it was intentional, maybe not. This results in timing chain slap and eventual failure.
To ensure that you don’t have to deal with this issue again, we install new tensioners and guides in all our 5.4L 2 valve engines.
2. Weak Head Gasket
The head gasket on stock Ford 5.4L 2 valve engines isn’t up to the challenge. As a result, the gasket blows. We fix this issue by beefing up the head gasket. We remove the stock gasket and install a multi-layer steel head gasket. It can endure the high engine temperatures better than the stock one.
3. Valve Train Noise
This noise is best described as a clicking sound of a sewing machine. It is common with Ford 5.4L 2 valve engines. It drives some Ford owners bonkers, and it often leads to valve train failure. We fixed this issue by updating the valve train with all new:
- Rockers
- Lifters
4. Piston/Bore Slap
In the Ford 5.4L 2 valve engine, the cold running clearance is too large. This causes piston/bore slap. We fix this issue by installing hyper-eutectic graphite-coated pistons. Our pistons don’t move around as much as the stock ones.
